Record-breaking IGCSE Exam Results for 2022/23
Congratulations to all our IGCSE 2021/22 students on achieving outstanding results, with a record-breaking number of students achieving 9 or more A*/A grades.
Straits International School students have consistently been encouraged to dig deep with their specialist teachers to challenge themselves to reach their full potential.
- 88% of students achieved at least 5 grades at A* – C
- 54% of all grades were A*/ A
- 28% of students achieved A*/A grades for every subject
- 25% of students achieved 9 or more A/A* grades
Our Additional Mathematics, Physics and Mandarin students celebrated some notable successes. In Additional Maths 93.8% of students scored A*/A grades and in Physics 92.4% of students scored A*/A grades. Our Mandarin department scored 100% A* – B grades across all levels.
For the first time, our Year 10 students had the option to fast track and take the IGCSE English as a Second Language exam as an early entry and 100% of these students scored A*/A grades. This will allow students to move on to the study of IGCSE First Language in Year 11.
Campus Principal Karlie Walsh said: “We are on an amazing journey for the development of our school, and our Year 11 community are a credit to the school and Penang. Their progress shows that even during a difficult year, of lockdown learning, class bubbles and wearing masks, that resilience pays off.”
