Academic Pathway

At Straits International School Penang, your child will be immersed in a British-style education from kindergarten to the Secondary years, providing them with a truly international outlook in life. Our curriculum features a balanced approach between a strong academic focus and value-added programmes, enabling balanced development as they progress through the years and leading to the Cambridge and AQA Oxford IGCSE examinations in Year 11.

Reflecting our aim to provide an international yet locally-focused education, all Malaysian students study Bahasa Malaysia, Malaysian History and Moral Studies, while Muslim students receive Islamic Tuition. Furthermore, our curriculum in Humanities is localised to suit an Asian setting.

Mandarin is compulsory for all students at the school, either as a first or second language.
